Description
This rich and creamy Shrimp Alfredo recipe is quick, easy, and restaurant-quality. Made with fettuccine, Parmesan, cream cheese, and jumbo shrimp, it’s perfect for weeknights or special dinners.
Ingredients
-
1 lb (450g) jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails optional)
-
8 oz (225g) fettuccine pasta
-
2 tbsp (30g) unsalted butter
-
4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened and cubed
-
¾ cup (180ml) heavy cream
-
¼ cup (60ml) low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
-
2 large garlic cloves, finely minced
-
1 cup (90g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
-
Sea salt and black pepper, to taste
-
Optional garnish: chopped parsley, red pepper flakes
Instructions
-
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook fettuccine al dente and reserve ½ cup pasta water. Drain and set aside.
-
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
-
Add cream cheese, heavy cream, and broth. Whisk until smooth and let simmer 3–4 minutes.
-
Reduce heat to low, stir in Parmesan gradually, and whisk until melted and slightly thickened (about 2 minutes).
-
Raise heat to medium and add shrimp in a single layer. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
-
Toss in the cooked pasta. Add reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
-
Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley and red pepper flakes. Serve hot.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best texture and flavor.
Add spinach, mushrooms, or a splash of lemon juice for variation.
Don’t overcook the shrimp; they become rubbery quickly.
