A quick and savory Pepper Steak Recipe made with thinly sliced beef, colorful bell peppers, and a sweet soy glaze. Perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
For the Marinade:

1 lb. round steak, sirloin, or venison, sliced thin

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp cornstarch

½ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp ground ginger

Dash of salt and pepper
For the Glaze:

3 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp cornstarch
-
1½ tbsp sugar
Additional:

1 bell pepper, sliced
-
1 small onion, sliced
-
2 tbsp vegetable or sesame oil
-
Steamed rice, for serving

Sesame seeds or green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions

Marinate the Steak:
In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, garlic powder, ginger, salt, and pepper. Add sliced steak, toss to coat, and marinate in the fridge for 15 minutes. -
Prepare the Glaze:
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, and sugar until smooth. Set aside. -
Cook the Vegetables:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add bell pepper and onion. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until lightly charred. Transfer to a plate. -
Cook the Steak:
Add remaining oil to the skillet. Add marinated steak, spreading it in a single layer. Sear for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. -
Combine and Thicken:
Return vegetables to the skillet. Pour in the glaze and toss to coat. Cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens. -
Serve:
Spoon over warm rice and garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a splash of sesame oil or rice vinegar before serving.
Works well with chicken or tofu for a variation.
Double the glaze for saucier results.
