Quick, flavorful, and packed with sweet-savory goodness, this Sesame Ground Chicken is a weeknight wonder. Made with lean ground chicken, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, and a hint of spice, it’s ready in under 30 minutes and perfect over rice or in lettuce wraps.
Ingredients

1 tsp (5ml) olive oil or avocado oil

½ cup (75g) finely diced yellow onion

2 tbsp (20g) minced garlic

2 lbs (900g) lean ground chicken

1 tsp kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tbsp (15g) chili-garlic paste (e.g., sambal oelek)

½ cup (120ml) low-sodium soy sauce
-
⅓ cup (70g) brown sugar or coconut sugar

1–2 tbsp (15–30ml) toasted sesame oil (adjust to taste)

⅓ cup (80ml) chicken stock or water
-
1 tbsp (8g) cornstarch + 1 tbsp (15ml) water (slurry)

For garnish: sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds
Instructions

Sauté Aromatics: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until translucent. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Cook Chicken: Increase heat to medium-high. Add ground chicken, breaking it into crumbles. Cook for 6–8 minutes until no pink remains. Drain excess fat if needed. Season with salt and pepper.

Make Sauce: In a bowl, whisk chili-garlic paste, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and chicken stock. Pour over the chicken and stir to coat.

Thicken Sauce: Bring mixture to a simmer. Stir slurry and add to the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens. Add more sesame oil to taste if desired.

Garnish & Serve: Top with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over rice, cauliflower rice, or in lettuce wraps.
Notes
For less spice, reduce or omit chili-garlic paste.
Substitute coconut aminos for soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
