Description

Make your own fresh, creamy Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing at home with this easy and authentic recipe. Perfect for salads, dipping, or marinating!

Ingredients

Scale

Seasoning Blend:

  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

  • ½ teaspoon dried dill

  • ¼ teaspoon dried chives (or fresh, finely chopped)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Dressing Base:

  • ½ cup sour cream

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • ¼½ cup milk (2% or whole, as needed)

  • 12 teaspoons fresh lemon juice (about ½ lemon)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Seasoning:
In a bowl, combine buttermilk powder, parsley, dill, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Sift if clumpy.

  2. Create the Base:
Whisk together sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.

  3. Blend:
Gradually stir the seasoning blend into the creamy base.

  4. Adjust Consistency:
Add milk one tablespoon at a time until your desired thickness is reached.

  5. Brighten:
Stir in the lemon juice. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.

  6. Chill:
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Notes

For a thicker dip, use less milk.

Fresh herbs can be substituted at double the amount for even more vibrant flavor.

Keeps well for up to 7 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Want it spicy? Add a pinch of cayenne or a few dashes of hot sauce!

Makes a great marinade for chicken or veggies.
